JOEL CANNING
Owner / Head Coach
Joel has been coaching goalkeepers for overl 20 years, combining a successful playing career with his coaching, sharing his experiences and knowledge with GK Icon goalkeepers of all ages.
Joel enjoys working with a wide range of abilities and supporting keepers as they make their way through their goalkeeping careers, taking great pleasure in every milestone along the way.

Joel has been working with GK Icon since September 2016, building a number of successful coaching centres across the South East and progressing a number of goalkeepers on to professional clubs.
JULIUSZ
GK Icon lead coach
Juliusz has a real love for coaching and supporting young goalkeepers. Juliusz has a fantastic eye for detail and enjoys improving goalkeepers technically. Juliusz still plays to a high standard and continues to work extremely hard on his own game.
BEN
GK Icon coach
Ben was a member of our Watford centre for a number of years, combining being a goalkeeper whilst still being capable of playing on pitch at times.

Ben is a full time student with Watford FC's community trust college scheme and splits his time between his playing, studying and coaching with GK icon, Watford FC and Titans FC too.
TOM
GK Icon coach
Tom brings an enormous amount of enthusiasm and knowledge to GK Icon Aylesbury, specifically strong at motivating and finding ways for keepers to find more from within themselves to take their games further. Tom focusses on supporting elements of goalkeepers fitness and enjoys seeing keepers work hard to improve their fitness.
HARRY
GK Icon coach
Harry is an extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic coach. Alex is very patient, methodical and enjoys supporting young goalkeepers and finding ways of integrating new goalkeepers into the GK Icon family.

Harry has a genuine love for football which is eveident through his coaching, able to refer to instances during big games he is able to refer his coaching points to, making for really interesting and relevant session detail.
CIARAN
GK Icon coach
Like the majority of the team, Ciaran has progressed through the ranks at GK Icon, starting as a young goalkeeper within our sessions before taking a real shine to supporting others within his group.

Ciaran has developed into a really supportive coach, able to work with keepers of all abilities and ages, with a specific eye for technique and footwork ability.

GEORGE
GK Icon coach
Like the majority of the team, George has developed his goalkeeping for many years with GK Icon and has developed a keen interest in coaching, looking to pass on his experience to young goalkeepers and those looking for a pathway into academy football.
TOBY
GK Icon coach
Joel always looks to support his goalkeepers with a pathway into coaching. A number of GK Icon goalkeepers have carried out work experience as well as working with Joel to carry out segments of their Duke Of Edinburgh Award.

Toby is a superb communicator and always knows when and how to deliver information. Despite his young age, Toby is able to step in and motivate young goalkeepers or provide excellent technical detail when called upon.
CAMERON
GK Icon coach
Cameron has been with GK Icon since 2016, developing as an outstanding goalkeeper before showing an interest in coaching and wanting to support young goalkeepers on their journey between the sticks.
TOMMY
GK Icon coach
Tommy really enjoys supporting our young keepers and particularly enjoys helping young keepers who are new to the position, adding a strong foundation of catching technqiues to their game.

Tom has been working with GK Icon for a number of years and supports new starters really well, encouraging the use of their set position and taking time to go over the basic catching techniques over and over again.
JAY
GK Icon coach
Joel always looks to support his goalkeepers with a pathway into coaching. A number of GK Icon goalkeepers have carried out work experience as well as working with Joel to carry out segments of their Duke Of Edinburgh Award.

Jay has a real passion for coaching and despite his young age, has a superb way of delivering information to young goalkeepers. Jay is a highly dedicated and motivated young man who enjoys combining his goalkeeping with long distance running.
AMY
GK Icon coach
Amy is another graduate of the GK icon system, having been a member of both the Watford and Aylesbury centres for many years, developing her goalkeeping and gaining opportunities at a number of clubs including Watford and Wycombe.

Amy has progressed into a brilliant coach and has been a massive support to the ever growing female population of goalkeepers at our sessions.
BEN
GK Icon coach
Ben has been with GK Icon since 2017, developing as an outstanding goalkeeper before showing an interest in coaching and wanting to support young goalkeepers on their journey between the sticks.
LAWRENCE
GK Icon coach
Lawrence was previously a goalkeeper within our GK Icon sessions. Lawrence developed real leadership skills and soon found himself supporting younger goalkeepers.

Lawrence also works with Watford FC, supporting their PDC goalkeepers with a particular focus on being a link between GK Icon and Watford FC, providing valuable feedback between the two.
LEWIS
GK Icon coach
Lewis has developed a real passion for coaching and enjoys sharing his own experiences with young goalkeepers. Lewis started with GK icon in 2018, mixing his time in goal with a talent on pitch too. This has seen Lewis develop into a really forward thinking, modern coach, looking to specifically help goalkeepers with their comfort with the ball at their feet.
